STRIDER Dealer Spotlight: Hap's Cycle

Hap's

Hap’s Cycle is a family owned (2nd generation) and operated shop in Sarasota, Florida. Hap’s was founded in 1948 as a Harley dealership and became the 5th Honda dealer in the country when they made the switch in 1961! All of the 22 employees, including the owners Alice, David, & Bob, are bmx and motorcycle enthusiasts.

Ninety year old Uncle Kenny was the first employee hired in 1949. Where is Uncle Kenny today? You can find him driving his convertible Roush Mustang to work or back in the warehouse whipping donuts (we presume) on the company forklift.

In 1974 Alice Bixler got involved with BMX racing with her kids at Sarasota BMX. In 2011 her grandson Gavin competed in the inaugural STRIDER World Championship at the very same track that Alice’s kids starting riding at! The entire Hap’s cycle crew is excited about the next generation of 2 wheeled enthusiasts!

Gavin-Bixler

This commitment to two wheeled fun, from STRIDER bikes to custom racing motorcycles, is the reason Hap’s Cycle Sales is the first installment of the STRIDER Dealer Spotlight!
